orders. Fair enough. Those don’t have the same force of law as Congressional

Moment of Zen #1. I might have
mentioned once or twice that I’m skeptical of vaccines. OK, maybe thrice. There’s good reason for that.
Apparently the science of vaccine-making has
made tremendous advances in recent years. Here’s a summary of what I have
learned (hat tip to The 5 Min. Forecast):
• It’s true that a human vaccine has never
been developed for any type of c-virus, but we now have different technologies
and tools. Current capabilities are beyond what most people, including
scientists, dreamt of even a decade ago. Our expectations and regulations re:
speed of development are lagging behind.
• The COVID-19 vaccine is not like previous
ones (e.g. for influenza). Those involved generating dead or attenuated
viral particles that would, in turn, activate the immune system. There was all sorts of other scary stuff in them too.
• The new vaccine is genetic rather than
antigenic. It involves RNA/
• We need to revise our thinking about
timelines. Genetic vaccines can be developed, tested and approved more
quickly than antigenic ones. While we might be in new territory, the process
can happen much faster today than in years past — and be done properly.
Bottom line: I remain skeptical. I trust POTUS,
however, and am open-minded about the new vaccine. He’s being positive about it
and the libs are attacking it, both of which confirm that it could be legit.
